David is a terrific talent from the U.K. His Battlestar Galactica artwork was seen via his personal web site, BattlestarPegasus.com and The Dutch Battlestar Galactica Revival Page in the form of self-made video clips (with original artwork). His latest project consists of an original 22 megabyte original CGI animated MPEG file!

David writes: The models and maps I used for tha animation where not as high res as they could be, but at the end of the day I knew I would be rendering the sequence to 320x240 so that people would still be able to download it.

The actual sequence is 22 meg in size, but this was cut into smaller sections to help the people with slower modems. Also I don't have a very good Mpeg encoder, suggestions would be appreciated (david@stadiumhouse.demon.co.uk). I have the animation stored as an uncompressed AVI (it's just over 2 gig) so something that could handle that would be good.

And now some info for those of you who care. I used over 73 megs worth of texture maps. The Galactica contains 120818 polygons. The Cylon Basestar contains 184110 polygons.

When we asked David what particularly happy moments he's experienced with his artwork, he said, "In recent times, it has to be the overall helpfulness of fans. While working on my recent animation I was amazed at all the people who would give up there time to research things for me. Herman Van Den Dries was especially helpful in sorting out the samples that went into making up the soundtrack, without his help it wouldn't have sounded half as good."
