How I Came to Love
Battelstar Galactica

By Ryan Doyle

Well, it was the first night of having cable TV back in 1996, it was getting late and of course I just had to stay up and watch all thirty channels.

I must have flicked around all thirty a dozen times, until on TV1, Battlestar Galactica came on. I saw a bit of Buck Rogers before and it didn't even interest me. I couldn't have started watching it a better time, as it was the first episode, "Saga of a Star World." I lay on the couch nearly asleep until I saw Apollo and Zac get into their Vipers and launch into space. I realised that this was no ordinary show. When it came to the Cylon attack my eyes were glued to the screen for the next two hours.

I woke up at 6am the next morning to watch the re-run of the previous nights episode. From then on, I have taped and watched every single episode made (and Apollo's 13 in Australia which showcased Richard "Apollo" Hatch's favorite episodes) with the exceptions of Galactica 1980 where I was disgusted with Glen Larson's outcome.

I believe Richard will make a better Battlestar series. Just look at the web pages. This site is packed wall-to-wall and I think Michael Faries has done an excellent job. Whereas www.battlestarmovie.com hasn't been updated since May 28th! (As of September 15, 1999, according to this writer.) And all it has is a few concept pictures!

I'll leave you with my Battlestar Motto:
Richard YES.   Larson NO!
