The coming of 2000 has brought many new things with it, ie. the term "Y2K", plus the drum beats of doom and destruction. Not to mention the worst of all: writing the "2" instead of the "1". And, in case anyone has noticed, the world hasn't come crashing to the ground! In this writer's humble opinion, the coming of a new year, a new century and a new millennium brings renewed enthusiasm and hope for the future of all things. And as we stand on the brink of this new century, things look ever brighter for the revival of our beloved Battlestar Galactica. I think if one takes a look back over the past year for Battlestar Galactica pre-production efforts, you'll see that certainly was a busy one! It's plainly obvious how much momentum has built up behind this and the enthusiasm it has engendered.

  • Richard Hatch, along with a very fine and dedicated group of people, has completed a Hollywood-worthy trailer. It has been presented to both fans at large, and Universal Studios, as an example of the love and durability that both Richard and those fans have for this show.
  • The very emergence of the trailer, plus the fans' reactions, has shown "THE POWERS THAT BE" that this IS a viable product, that this IS something worth considering.

The formation of the mail campaign is another huge step in the right direction. I can say (as one being very involved in the process) that I've had the pleasure of speaking to people from all around the globe about this campaign. And I must say that the letters have been coming in from EVERYWHERE! (I think the only continent that isn't represented is Antarctica. If only penguins could write!)

  • We must also consider the revival effort in general. While always there and simmering., it has hit a fever pitch over the past year and will continue to grow. The committment of the fans to Battlestar Galactica is an extraordinary thing!

The fans will continue to speak with one voice on this isssue and say: "WE WANT OUR GALACTICA!" -- the Battlestar Galactica which Richard is championing with original themes, cast members and characters. That unity of purpose is truly the engine that drives the revival forward and will bring it to glorious success.

The new year brings great promise.
