It was recently announced that sci-fi remake series Battlestar Galactica is getting a whole new spinoff prequel series called "Caprica." Signed on for twenty hours worth of finished product, including a two-hour pilot, the new series is to be set 50 years prior to Battlestar Galactica, and will focus on two rival families, the Graystones and the Adamas.
"Enmeshed in the burgeoning technology of artificial intelligence and robotics that will eventually lead to the creation of the Cylons, the two houses go toe-to-toe blending action with corporate conspiracy and sexual politics. 'Caprica' will deliver all of the passion, intrigue, political backbiting and family conflict in television's first science fiction family saga."

The “Battlestar Galactica” TV-movie directed by Edward James Olmos from a teleplay by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" vet Jane Espenson will hit SciFi in 2009 -- after the series finale airs
The first of a possible three films is now in development. The studio has reportedly offered a deal to Dean Stockwell, and is interested in making deals with Michael Trucco, Aaron Douglas, Grace Park, Michael Hogan and Katee Sackhoff, among others, for this film.
The Cylons were obviously collectively an important character; it was my desire to make them formidable and sterile. It was John Mamais that pushed for them to be taller than in the original TV show. And so it was that with the help of visionary Justin Sweet, the Cylons emerged. Comparing the original design (top of the page) to the final result, it's an impressive evolution.

In case you haven't heard, Sci Fi has ordered a pilot called Caprica from BSG creator Ronald D. Moore. It goes back in time to before the creation of the Cylons for a look at life in the Colonies before, well, everything blew up.
For BSG fans who flocked and packed the Roxy Theatre on Sunset Boulevard, it was an orgiastic celebration of one of the more daring, innovative, and prodigiously popular shows on television. The music has long been lauded as a major cog in the BATTLESTAR wheel of success which this unprecedented live music event was testament to.
Been a while since I last shared with you all but with the debut of season four, I wanted to share with you what’s been going on with Battlestar, our new and updated Battlestar site and our planned social networking service we hope to have up and running in the very near future. "Battlestar Galactica" is a sci-fi series perfectly suited for people who normally don't like science fiction. That's because it has never been a big-budget production and it forced the show's creators, writers and actors to improvise the ways they told stories. In short, they got creative and found a way to be better than they likely would have been with more money. Instead of pyrotechnic effects, the emphasis is on the writing; the acting, which is raw but nuanced; and the direction, which must be nimble as most scenes are shot inside a cramped spaceship.

Battlestar Prequel Confirmed March 25,2008
The Sci-Fi Channel has now confirmed that it has given the green light to a two hour pilot of Caprica, set a full fifty years before the events of Battlestar Galactica. Production on the show will begin in the next month or two, and once again Ronald D Moore and David Eick are behind it. With a bit of luck, we may get to see it this year, but we wouldn't bet on it just yet.

In fact, Hatch's musicianship was so well received, MGM Records came calling and he nearly signed a deal. Now his son continues the legacy as songwriter and musician in his own right.
Many boast of being inspirational or motivational. Any actor worth their salt can inspire us to at least believe a character their portraying. With Richard Hatch, the motivational part is no empty boast. While chatting, I couldn't help reminisce about myself growing up watching him as star traveling Apollo and the wholly satisfying achievement of scaling trees as a boy.

Brette Somers who played Siress Belloby in THE MAGNIFICENT WARRIORS has died. She was 83. Somers was best known for her appearances on "Match Game" in the 1970s.

We’re months away from the start of the final season of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA on the SCI FI Channel, and we’re also months away from the 2 part mini movie RAZOR, which is the epic story of the Battlestar Pegasus before she reached the fleet. However, there is no time like the present to pick the brain of series creator and executive producer Ronald D. Moore. iF Magazine has noticed that sometimes Moore likes to give hints as to what is coming up on the science fiction show, so with this being the final season we decided to try and get at least a few answers out of him well ahead of schedule.

Battlestar Galactica LITHOGRAPH measuring 32" x 22.5" made by artist James Cukr for Lightspeed Fine Arts under licensing from Universal Studios/SCI-FI Channel. These were limited to 1978 in numbers (the year BG first aired) and I was the one who came up with that idea and suggested it to Lee, who worked there at the time, and Lightspeed’s owner embraced it! Please note though that each is NOT numbered. The brain trust behind Sci Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica on Friday announced plans to wrap up the critically acclaimed cult series after its upcoming fourth season.
