BSG-Online: To begin this interview, you have really big credits, you appeared on many TV shows such as and this is a non-exhaustive list: Dynasty, McGyver, Baywatch and of course Battlestar Galactica in which you played Apollo. Which was the shooting that marked you the most so far? Richard Hatch: I obviously love the Battlestar story and playing Apollo was certainly rewarding, but the character that was most challenging to me was the role of Jan Berry in “Dead Mans Curve”, the true story of 50’s rock stars Jan and Dean. Jan was in a serious accident early in his career and had brain damage and had to fight and struggle to reclaim his former life. Bruce Davidson co-starred with me. Great role! This was going to be a friendly reminder about that other "SCI-Fi" epic, STAR WARS. Finally you fans can see the last episode of G.Lucas' epic adventure. - However a day before it's release a "WORKPRINT" DVD copy has shown up on the net. With reports putting the quality at or above VHS quality with perfect/good sound. How will this affect the ticket sales? Obviously a bad thing for the folks who spent the last few years working on this movie. Hopefully they can track down the nut job who put this out there! Clearly the work of a Sith Lord. As for the movie? I can't decide if its a Cartoon, or Live action movie myself. (All emails on this subject will be ignored...I know you stormtroopers are dying to send me one!)
Slashdot has pointed out a good read on what went down with BATTLESTAR and PIRACY - and the unexpected results. "While you might assume the SciFi Channel saw a significant drop-off in viewership as a result of this piracy, it appears to have had the reverse effect: the series is so good that the few tens of thousands of people who watched downloaded versions told their friends to tune in on January 14th, and see for themselves. From its premiere, Battlestar Galactica has been the most popular program ever to air on the SciFi Channel, and its audiences have only grown throughout the first series. Piracy made it possible for "word-of-mouth" to spread about Battlestar Galactica."
